Atlantis Nightclub

Charleston, WV  Nov. 5 - 15, 2003

The two weeks we returned to Atlantis went by so fast.  It felt like we'd been gone for a long while and it was great to see all our friends and fans in Charleston.  We missed you guys! It all started out as usual on the trip to set up until we drove into Huntington and the truck It all started out as usual on the trip to set up until we drove into Huntington and the truck muffler fell off and started dragging along the highway.  Everyone knows how much fun it is to be stuck on the side of the road with a problem like that - no fun at all!  But Larry got out and knocked the muffler off and loaded it into the back of the truck and we got back on the road.  It didn't ruin our day.  Things happen - just gotta go with the flow! On the second Wednesday, the "Working Women's Wednesday" party with Bill Sheehan was a fun time as usual.  The party started at 5:30 pm and continued until we took the stage for a 2 hour set from 8 - 10 pm.  That particular night was especially rowdy because it was our friend  Kelly's birthday.  It was also very memorable because we had a little difficultyg etting to the club!  That was the night Charleston got caught in the middle of 8 inches of rain in approximately 2 hours.  Everything was flooded!  We had no idea and left our homes to make the 2 hour trip just like we usually did.  We were shocked when we got into town and saw that everything was flooded!  The underpasses and roads were pretty tricky to navigate and we had to find an alternate route into Atlantis.  Then we were shocked again to see that the club was pretty crowded and we all had a great night.  Sometimes the funnest parties happen when there is bad weather, it brings out the party animal in all of us.  Our friend Jack Whitaker brought a table full of friends and they danced the night away.  Thanks Jack for being such a great guy!  Then on Friday night, we had our usual VIP friends in the crowd (you are all VIP's in our book)  and it was an especially important performance for us because we were showcasing the band to a big-time Manager from Nashville.  We had contacted him about the band and sent him a copy of our new album, Curves.  We were thrilled that he agreed to come up to Charleston to see the band perform live and talk with us about representation to record labels.  The band played great and we met with him the following day to talk about future plans for Convertible Blondes.  So many great things are happening it feels like a dream and you guys are all a part of it - we're gonna take you along for the ride!

As a result of our meeting, we will be traveling to Nashville in the next couple of weeks to have some new photos taken and some of the people working on the team for our photo shoot have just returned from working with rock-n-roll heavies like Unckle Kracker.  I can't wait to see the cool clothes and new look that they are all talking about.  As soon as we get the new photos we will post them on the website - so check back often.Saturday night was another great turnout and a lot of new faces in the crowd.  We played all your favorite songs including our own and the night went by really fast.  Then it was time to tear-down and move on to the next gig.  We want to welcome our newest crew member, Chad.  He did a great job running the spotlight and Stage Manager Darrell Smith is showing him the ropes.  We are so lucky to be working with the best sound and light crew around and their behind-the-scenes work helps make our show even better.  So, next time you come out to see us be sure and go up to the guys and show them some love.  They work reallyhard.  :)

We got the noisy truck (Mobizzle Dizzle) loaded up and Ayman fixed us some great diet-busting treats to fill us up and get us home safe.  The food they have at Aladdin is amazing, it's one of our favorite places to eat and Ayman takes great care of his customers and friends.  As always we want to thank the staff at Atlantis for all their support and friendship. And  jeanie for selling over $200 in CD's and band merchandise, all the proceeds going to our "recording fund".

We'll be back to Atlantis on Dec. 17, 19 & 20 - this is our last gig before we leave for Australia on December 27th.  Come out and cheer us on!  Hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving and remember - turkey is not fattening!  But all the other stuff is!  :)  This year we are giving thanks for all your support through the years and especially to Chris, Fred & Marianna, our families and friends.  Until next time,

your friend,
Gina
