Gina is the lead singer,
keyboard player and a founding member in
Convertible Blondes.
Gina is a classically trained
pianist and began singing in church at the age
of 8. Throughout her teens she would perform
at talent shows and benefits and hosted a weekly
TV show for kids. The variety of these show
business experiences helped her realize she
wanted to pursue a career performing. It was
while in college working on a piano performance
degree at Morehead State University that she
started singing in a rock band. "That band led
to international tours to Europe, Caribbean
and Australia in January 2004. I don't know how
I ended up a singer in a rock-n-roll band, but
it's certainly been an amazing experience".
With all the classical
training and theory classes under her
belt, Gina only started writing songs when she
joined Convertible Blondes. "I recieved alot of
encouragement and felt really open to sharing my
musical ideas and early lyric attempts in this
band. I had never really tried to write a song
before". After a couple of years and some
recognition from songwriting contests like
Billboard, she says, "the songs kept getting
better and better."
So, she eventually found her
voice and the songs the band are writing now are
very personal. "When I'm on stage, I feel free
to talk about the daily things we all have to
deal with. Sometimes I can see people in the
crowd nodding their head - and that is the
biggest compliment of all".
She loves to tour and meet
new people and in her down time she likes to
stay home, read, cook and garden. "I'm a people
person most of the time, but sometimes I like to
hide away from the outside world."
