I started collecting records when i was about 6 or 7 . I had a cousin who stayed over
on weekends when his dad was playing in his country band .
He was about 5 years older , and his brother was 5 years older than him ,
and got his hand-me-downs , as well as the stuff he found .
It was great .
I got to listen to the Rolling Stones , Alice Cooper , rush , Black Sabbath
and aerosmith , and my dad would play Waylon Jennings, George Jones ,
Buck Owens and Buddy Holly records .
I was lucky . I had a musical family , and I was allowed to sit around
drawing and listening to records all day .
It just never occurred to me to be in a band until high school .
A friend was watching MTV and said " wouldn't it be cool to be in a band " .
That was it . I had tried to play guitar , but it didn't really go anywhere .
So I thought DRUMS .I played in a couple local bandsuntil a friend tols me about
this place in florida .I quit college , and moved down where
I played in the FLESHY HEADED MUTANTS .
The band did well , and we were even being
courted by Atlantic records . It just didn't feel right , so I moved back,
went to school and taught myself to play guitar and bass .
Randy Adkins from the
guitar store took me under his wing , and showed me how to do some guitar
repairs .After that , I started a recording studio and joined the BLONDES the first time .
I left to move to Los Angeles , where I attended the Los Angeles Recording Workshop . I got a job at
a studio , where I was lucky enough to have met and worked with many of my musical heroes .
I recorded four albums for former KINKS guitarist Dave Davies. I did 3 tours with him as front of house
sound or rhythm guitar / guitar tech . I also was lucky enough to work for Ken Andrews and YEAR OF THE RABBIT
as their guitar tech .
I played drums with Sebastian Robertson in Generica ,
and played guitar for the GASOLINE Angels .the Gasoline angels were asked to open for Robbie Kreieger
and almost did a tour of Mexico . Alas , plans could not be made to work out .After those bands dissolved
I worked on a cartoon for Showtime . Free For All .
After this I decided I needed to clear my head ,
and moved back , where I eventually hooked up again with my buddies , the CONVERTIBLE BLONDES .
