"She Want's to Rock" - Release Party at the Atlantis - 9/26/03 |
| Hi Everybody, this is Larry, and welcome back to CB Diaries... |
| II would like to share our Sept. 26th, Single Release Party at Atlantis, in Charleston, WV with you. The day before started off with Gina and myself going to WCHS Channel 8 at 6:00 a.m. in the morning. I'm surprised my eyes were open, I wonder where the other band members were?! The interview went great and everyone at the TV station were super - producer Elisabeth Lilly, tech Wes and the anchor of the show Laura Baker. A special thanks to Bob Butterfield for helping us out on this. After the interview, we dropped off promo stuff to the newspapers and proceeded to the mall where Gina picked up a fab outfit for the party. After they chased me down and tackled me to pry the Visa card out of my clenching fist, we left the mall and went to lunch at Atlantis for a meeting with ProTech followed by a show rehearsal. Then we drove home and relaxed the rest of the evening. |
| On the 26th we went to Atlantis to get the party set up. The searchlights were delivered and after popping various circuit breakers we got them working. Then we proceeded to blow up and tie the multi-colored, endless supply of balloons to float on the ceiling. With Jillian and Stephen, our Australian fans who flew in for the party, kicking balloons and talking with helium voices, and their parents Chris and Catrina pulling their hair out - we were then ready for a sound check. Did I mention the band was also talking with helium voices, but our parents weren't there to stop us? :) |
|
Bub started to play his bass
and balloons started popping all over the club. It sounded like
fire crackers going off everywhere. So, we had to stop and put
all the balloons in plastic bags so we could continue with the
sound check. We ended up tying the balloons in bundles for the
party and the room looked fabulous. Sarah and Amy were the main
ones responsible for decorating and they did a great job.
Then we went back to the
hotel to chill and get dressed and our friend Darryll from De Ja
Vu Hair Designers did our hair and we were ready.
|
| We arrived at the club and it was packed to the max! I always wanted to play walking into the club and through the crowd and onto the stage, so that's what we did. And it was major fun for me - I liked starting the show out among the crowd. We got to the stage and performed our original set. The crowd reacted great and made us feel wonderful. We finished the set and the crowd was with us all the way. |
| During the night we gave away CB t-shirts, hats, and Bub's original cartoon artwork of the band was won by our friend Larry Holstein, who had a table of Harley Davidson partiers with him. We're glad Larry won the artwork, he's always been a big supporter of the band and we appreciate it. We then took a break and went over to the merchandising table to sign CD's. Thanks to everybody for supporting us - we sold a lot of CD's. Later that night we learned that our first single "She Wants to Rock" will be entering the Australian music charts at # 11 with a bullet. That was the icing on a hectic, exciting cake with everyone partying the whole night long. |
| After the show, we went back to the hotel and continued celebrating. Our apologies to our Marriott neighbors as it went really late. At 5:30 am I went back to my room and our neighbors next door were rockin too! oh well, paybacks...The night was very special and I want to thank: Ayman and the staff at Atlantis, Chris, Catrina, Jillian, Stephen, Sarah, Chris, Amy, the Animal and Rock 105, ProTech, Steve and Jenny Marshall Icon Graphics and most importantly the fans for making this a night to remember. |
| I have to say this night was very special to me and the rest of the band and maybe someday I'll post video of the after party on the website, you talk about some funny video! Once again, thanks to everybody and special thanks to our fans and friends for making this happen. |
| Until next time, take care, |
|
Larry
